Pom Poms + Magnetic tape --> The hungry Caterpillar and friends

Magnetic Very Hungry Caterpillar

We made three adorable caterpillars using magnetic tape and pom poms. This craft is a continuation of our magnetic pom poms play. The magnetic caterpillars where born when we ran out of magnetic buttons and CJ was unable to come out of the magnetic charisma.

Materials Used:

Pom Poms
Magnetic adhesive tape(I bought them at Wal-mart)
Pipe cleaners
Googly eyes

Steps overview:

CJ wanted a hungry caterpillar and rainbow caterpillars. So first we decided the number of pom poms to be used and the colors.

Based on the caterpillar size and the number of poms we cut magnetic strips from the magnetic tape roll.

We removed the sticker from the magnetic tape and added the pom poms on the adhesive side of tape. The curved shape of the magnet will become straight when we use it on the fridge door or cookie tray.

Cut 3 to 4 inches of pipe cleaner and fold it in half.

In between the head and next pom pom, I just wrapped the pipe cleaner around the magnet strip and made a antenna. You can also hot glue the antenna in between the first and second pom pom.

Glue on the googly eyes and CJ thinks they look so silly!

CJ loves her new friends!

Aah! I love the little creatures crawling on our fridge door! Perfect to hold on kids art work/personal notes!
